Papa Francis The First | His Holiness Papa Francisco

i feel ive been un clear about my religion on here so lemme attempt to clear it up...

peterpanstatus:

okay i AM a Franciscan catholic. what does this mean?

means i follow more in the beliefs and influences of st. francis of asi si, who said “god so often reveals himself in people we do not want to like.” in other words, don’t let the sins of evil people turn you into an evil person. basically about always doing the right thing, being the better person etc.

I WAS BAPTIZED.

as an infant, in holy water by a priest.

however my family DOES NOT believe in the bible. this is where it gets confusing.

we all believe in the teachings of jesus, and that he was a real person. but the bible is mythical and many parts of it are evil and sexist. my little brother is gay, and i’m bi. so that alone makes us against it.

also my father learned later in his life priests he had as teachers in catholic school were molesters. and my mother is sick of women being undermined in the church.

my mother is paegan catholic, this meaning she pays attributes to the old paegan earth female spirit religion that catholicism branched off of.

i love easter, i think it is the most important holiday in our faith, a day of redemption and starting a fresh. i’m going to mas in the morning, and spending the day with my family, so when mean girls from my old college go out of their way on easter of all days to be mean to me it’s shocking. jesus said “love thy neighbor love thy self” simple as that. hiding behind social media to say hateful things you wouldn’t dare say in public is sickening.

i am catholic, i don’t believe in the bible, i believe in some aspects of it.

if anyone has a problem with that i beg you to never fucking talk to me cause odds are if you go out of your way to be hateful you are a hateful person.

my old college was catholic, i get raped and NO ONE cares. so yeah sorry i have trouble always going to the band wagon for traditional catholic values.

First of all, I’m very sorry that you endured that pain.  It must be very traumatizing to go through that and not have anyone at the college care for you or look into the matter as they should have.  I do have to say however, I’m confused at why you call yourself Catholic if you reject the teachings of what it means to be Catholic.  You don’t believe in the bible, your mother believes in a goddess deemed false by the Church, and you suggested you disagree with many of the other teachings of Catholicism.  It just seems to me like calling oneself a vegetarian, but one who eats meat, or a Muslim but one who doesn’t believe in the Quran.

If you are interested in the Catholic faith, I would invite you to ask a priest about some of the biblical passages you are struggling with, and to attend mass as often as possible to become more aware of the power of the Holy Spirit.  But I must warn you, Catholicism is a cross.  The truth is always much harder to accept than a lie, and so should you choose to embrace the faith, then you must be willing to embrace suffering.  Catholicism is not a badge of honor, it is a cross.  But truly I say to you, it is only by taking up your cross that you may know the fullness and the beauty of the truth.

"And now let us begin this journey, the Bishop and people, this journey of the Church of Rome, which presides in charity over all the Churches, a journey of brotherhood in love, of mutual trust. Let us always pray for one another. Let us pray for the whole world that there might be a great sense of brotherhood.

I will now give my blessing to you and to the whole world, to all men and women of good will."

-Papa Francis quote

He does not know you, yet he prays for you.
He will most likely never meet you, yet he loves you.

This is your chance to show your love, for as the Bible teaches, "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven."
