Love is patient. Love is kind....

Love is patient. Love is kind.

We’ve all heard these words many times. But, how many times have we actually taken them to heart?

God instructs us to love one another. How good are we at following his command?

Today is a perfect day to try to do better. To love more and to judge less. Wonder what I mean? I’ll refer you to my colleague’s recent post It’s All in Your Perspective! She recalls an experience where she stepped into the other person’s shoes to view her actions as they might have been seen by the other person. It seems to me that this is one very good example of how to show love in our lives—everyday.

Instead of grumbling about the person who cuts you off, try assuming that he or she might have a good reason for zipping through traffic—and say a prayer for them. When a friend acts a little curt, remind yourself that they could have something weighing heavy on their heart—and say a prayer for them.

Sometimes, the person you “love” that day may never even know it—like the driver of the other car. Sometimes, the person you “love” might realize later that you had an opportunity to be unkind and you didn’t take it. There are many, many ways to show love and be a kind, loving person. Thinking about your own life, try to identify an area or two that you could be more patient and kind and think of some small and simple ways to do it. You’ll be surprised by how much of a difference it makes in your own heart (and even your stress level), too.

"And now let us begin this journey, the Bishop and people, this journey of the Church of Rome, which presides in charity over all the Churches, a journey of brotherhood in love, of mutual trust. Let us always pray for one another. Let us pray for the whole world that there might be a great sense of brotherhood.

I will now give my blessing to you and to the whole world, to all men and women of good will."

-Papa Francis quote

He does not know you, yet he prays for you.
He will most likely never meet you, yet he loves you.

This is your chance to show your love, for as the Bible teaches, "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven."
